Steam’s blink-and-you’ll-miss-it buffet: five new PC games that could steal your weeknight

Steam’s discovery problem is real: for every blockbuster you can’t escape, there are 50 interesting smaller games you never even learn exist.

The practical consequence for gamers is that your next favorite game is often hiding behind the algorithm like it owes someone money. A curated “five you probably missed” list matters because it reduces the search cost: you don’t have to scroll through 200 suspiciously similar survival-crafting thumbnails to find something fresh.

The other consequence is backlog psychology. These small releases are usually priced to be “eh, why not,” which is great until your library becomes a digital attic full of perfectly good games you never touched. The best move is to treat these lists like a tasting menu: try the demos (if available), watch 5 minutes of real gameplay, and pick one thing to actually play this week.

That way you get the upside—discovering clever mechanics, weird stories, and new devs—without the downside of buying three games you’ll “totally start after you finish your current RPG.” Spoiler: you won’t finish your current RPG.
