Arc Raiders Reworks Trials, Because Competitive FOMO Was Becoming the Real Enemy

Arc Raiders is changing its Trials system for Season 4, with updates landing around 29 April that address several player complaints. The previous structure created frustration around time pressure, map conditions, and competitive fairness, especially when players felt they had to log in under very specific circumstances to keep up.
The new approach gives players more time, removes double points from map conditions, and reworks objectives tied too tightly to specific scenarios.
For gamers, this is a strong example of live-service design learning the difference between "exciting urgency" and "annoying homework." Competition can motivate players, but if the system feels like it rewards schedule abuse more than skill, it quickly becomes exhausting. Arc Raiders needs long-term players to feel challenged, not bullied by a calendar.
The impact is positive if these changes make Trials feel more skill-based and less like a race against real-life obligations. Live-service games increasingly compete not just for money, but for routine. The best ones respect the player's time while still giving them reasons to come back.
